It ships flat to keep it out of a bigger box. Pull the sides apart, push the base down and run your hand around the rim so it sits low and open. It holds that shape from then on — and a cat will flatten the base into its own shape within a week.

Is it big enough for your cat?
Measure your cat nose to tail base while they are stretched out, then add a few inches. Most cats sleep curled and want the sides close; a bed that is too big gets ignored more often than one that is slightly snug.
